Look, we know every pop culture site on planet earth (and maybe a few others celestial bodies) has been saturated with IT news since the day Warner Bros. announced a remake of the 1990 classic horror flick. But hear us out on this one — there’s a way to call the fictional Derry Police Department from Stephen King’s novel-turned-blockbuster and subsequently hear Pennywise pick up the phone and slaughter a police officer.
Soooooo, if you didn’t have Halloween plans before, you certainly do now.
Although initially a part of a promotional contest involving movie theater chain Alamo Drafthouse, the phone number and voice message still work, explaining that updates on the missing children cases can be found on twitter by using the hashtag #AlamoFloats and the @Drafthouse account. Fans have been sharing the hashtag in tweets since early September.

Upon dialing 913-535-6280 — a Kansas number, according to the area code — fans are automatically connected to a voice message from the Derry Police regarding the current missing children cases in the fictional Maine town. Calling 207-536-8474 also connects to the same voice message.
“You’ve reached the Derry Police Department. If you’re calling with information on the missing children of Derry, please leave a message,” the answering machine message states. “Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to find out what’s happening to the children of our town.”
The officer in the message then reinforces the town’s 7 p.m. curfew before being interrupted by Pennywise, who proceeds to… well, just call the number.
