A Ghost in a Strange Land - God of War/Fate Grand Order crossover (2024)

Re: JAlter's arm. All I can say is wait and see. Everything about it will come up in the immediate interludes between Orleans and Septem, as well as some other stuff.

Spite, or from the read of it

She wants some else to claim them.

The Blades are bound to Kratos, and Kratos alone. They're a millstone around his neck, and and a constant reminder of his sins.

Someone else trying to claim them is a BIG no-no for Athena's Shade, so she showed up, as she did when Kratos first reclaimed them in 2018, to slap Zerkerlot's hand.

Let me guess, he talked with Astolfo?

ANY of the Servants that had to deal with the Moon Cell and a certain purple haired Devil in the Machine, really.

They might have a therapy group for BB recovery.

Mf thinks he's Death fr.

Galahad: What are you doing? Pick it up. PICK. IT. UP.

Also, i have to dedicate some words for the Lancelot-Mash-Galahad section. That there was one of the better moments of the whole fic. Such a rollercoaster of emotions from Mash's side, beautifully done.

Utterly not going to lie, Galahad was talking in Lobo's voice while I was writing that section. Did not have that we'd get such an excellent representation of Death in a Puss In Boots movie, but hot damn, that wolf was awesome.

And yeah, there's going to be some fallout for the Mashmallow from here as she processes ALL of this and we start to see what Galahad chooses from here.

My praises to the author. Holy sh*t man, this chapter was an epic battle the whole way through that maintained the back and forth tension while finishing them before it became a slog to read through, intersped by short moments of tender emotion from Kiyohime and Mash.

Thank you. I greatly appreciate the praise.

I mean yeah, this IS a god of war crossover. Good to see the good ol 'O button' still works lol. The only thing more GoW that could have happened is if Mash picked up Arondight to finish off the wounded Lancelot and kept it afterwards

Jeanne MAY or may not have been getting some grappling pointers from Kratos in the evenings on the march from Castle Csejte after her attempted shoulder throw of d'Eon way back when failed miserably. So in honor of UFC 300 last night, she chokes Atalanta out.

p.s. I thought that Kratos would take more servants with him, since they are obviously needed; now they are lucky and they were not attacked all at once; numerical superiority can still have an overwhelming effect. He couldn't take them?

I've stated elsewhere that I'm trying to keep the Servant count low for this fic, due to concerns about handling a big cast and being unable to give enough attention to everyone - and having some characters fall to the wayside.

So for Orleans, 1 new Servant in JAlter. Others might have 1, or none, or maybe more - I've said before I'll probably only do one or none from Singularities, but as with anything re: this fic, that could change as I'm writing it.

And my congratulations for CrimsonEyes for concluding the France Arc, which is the Elephant Graveyard that most FGO fanfics end up in. This fic is now one of the rare 1 percent!

It's where FGO fics go to die, really. Personally, I want to make it to Okeanos with Septem in the rear-view mirror before breaking out the bubbly, if only because that means I'll have finished what is considered the worst Story chapter of FGO, and hopefully done it better.

Though my waifu prime is going to suffer in there, because it's how I'm wired.

Looks like Da Vinci has a new project: building an artificial limb that can keep up with a Servant.

Between that and 'fixing' Kratos' shield, she's a kid in a candy store.

By the way Crimson, how bad was Lancelots injuries? Would he have recovered given enough time and access to powerful healing magic, or would he have remained in a state of perpetual agony, arms lost forever? If so, I imagine Lancelot would've killed himself if Mash couldn't do it, though it would have been tricky given the lack of arms.

I didn't really put any thought into it, since the injuries were the set-up to give Mash the finishing blow, but ruminating on it, I'll tentatively say that his arms were gone-gone and not coming back given what torched them.

Not SUPER relevant since as I noted, it was the plot device to set up the start of the Mash/Galahad stuff and he was offed right after, but may come into play in case anyone else tries what Zerkerlot does in the future.

I'll have to imagine Gil with his foreseeing ability will realize even HE would get his hand slapped if he tried to take them into the Gate of Babylon, but CasGil meeting Kratos is a long-ass way in the future.

Look, I'm going to start this by saying this was a wonderful chapter, and it definitely has some interesting implications for the future. Now that that is out of the way, I think Kratos will have interesting interactions with Nero. Septem did not do a great job of actually writing her character, but she has a lot of depth. There is a reason she was able to become a beast, after all. I honestly hope she gets explored when Septem rolls around, and that perhaps she gets to join with the crew. While Boudica is also a very good option to join Chaldea, I think having both would possibly present a bit of a Kratos - Freya dynamic, if without the romantic subtext.

Nero is my Waifu Prime. I so BADLY want to give her Singularity a proper, well-written treatment that doesn't simp on her and actually acknowledges how flawed she is, and some of the actions she, and her empire have taken, while still treating her decently - though as I've noted above, I'm still going to put her through the wringer.

More and more of Septem's outline has been solidifying in my head over the past week, which is good. I had a good outline for both Orleans and Okeanos right out of Fuyuki - Septem has been more stubborn, though that's starting to ease.

Yes, but with that said, and with us knowing what Avengers purpose as a Class really are about, shouldn't this be example of mutual disadvantage?

It's not like Samson himself is squicky clean, Mad Enhancement or not - especially with his "Just following orders." mentality that he held in life, and which gnaws at him now.

It was a bit of a lightning in a bottle of things aligning - his purpose of punishing the guilty, and JAlter being the perfect target for that. And Sanson didn't really do anything in the great JAlter backstabbing that cost her her arm - he might have put a kick or two into Gilles, but the main architects there were Baldur, Atalanta, Carmilla, and Vlad. Zerkerlot wasn't included in the scheme because of how uncontrollable he was, and Sanson mostly just hung back - he knew the new boss wouldn't be much better than the old boss given he was actively working with Lev and his ilk. But the long and the short of it is JAlter didn't have as much revenge fuel against Sanson as she would have against the others named - not that it would have helped her that much. She'd have still gotten her teeth kicked in in the end.

Ah, kinda sad Kratos doesn get any loot.

Its tradition of him to get stronger by looting his enemies so im kinda sad its not happening here.

Hard to loot Servants since they take all their swag with them. But he got loot in the form of JAlter.

Not that he REMOTELY wanted that to happen.
